3 | Do you want a hug?
3-way conversation between Brother Nut UBERMORGEN and The Third Sister

Dear Brother
Do you want another hug?
The last weeks were hot-and-cold weeks of loss, lostness, loserness, a way to reboot my brain and nervous system to withstand the madness, chaos, horror, beauty and all the imaginable & unimaginable things our world has to offer. It is cold. Ice cold, minus degrees and we are all running around in Balaclavas and heavy-duty boots and jackets. Shit you need to survive on a curve... The Russian Oil and Gas has been partially replaced with ‘other’ Oil and Gas and I can turn on the heater and it’s hot in my tiny apartment. Convenient. Luxury. Seemingly easy.
2026-27: The Plan. Use the chaos. The less plans manifest, the more the unexpected arrives. Plan harder. But how to navigate a world you can’t process, don’t know the rules, and are constantly under threat? Systems, institutions and structures have the potential to be deadly. No birds in Winter. Not true. The crows are an aesthetic fixture of the snowy land- and cityscapes. Eastern Europe. Intelligent organic black shadows watching, processing and going into ‘action’.
Your crows and our probabilities meet at the same ditch: where a sample bottle touches water. Working with math to operate. Quantism is our worldview. Reality is best understood as a series of probabilities, expected values, and mathematical distributions.
In UBERMORGEN’s practice, we treat calculations as ‘materials’, we consider ’thinking’ as new artistic material—just like paint or pixels—to move avant-garde art beyond static objects and into the realm of dynamic system-building, infrastructure and institutions. By adopting a probabilistic lens, we transform radical uncertainty into aesthetic ‘Belief Sculptures,’ where every artwork is a provisional, revisable model rather than a final statement.
Consensual hallucination approaches allow us to navigate tensions between heuristic survival & quantitative optimization, using math as a reliable compass to take high-stakes risks that typical institutions avoid. Quantism for us is not math cosplay. It is fieldcraft.
Institutions fear non-zero risk. We accept it and price it in.
If you had a ‘belief sculpture’ in your village this winter, what would it measure every hour?
Yes, I admit, I don’t want to die or wither or run away yet… but I want another hug!
Luzius
